The project started with a preliminary research which was divided into four subjects; the current Pick-up Stint, market, legal and users & stakeholders. Interviews, observations and questionnaires have been carried out to develop a thorough understanding of the target group. The output of the research resulted into a complex program of demands and deep understanding of the design space.
Throughout the research phase I also hands-on explored the Pick-up Stint by hand driving and testing lay-outs.
The ideation phase started activities to generate ideas (e.g. brain drawing). The ideas with the most potential, based on the program of demands and expert input, have been worked out into three unique concepts.
The three concepts have been evaluated with the primary stakeholders and experts. Based on their input and the program of demands a final concept was chosen. This concept has been further elaborated in the fields of ergonomics, construction, design and safety. The final concept was turned into a full size functional model.
