Supporting the arts and performance industry during Lockdowns

ART ROUTES

Art Routes is a platform to allow performers to continue their performances by hosting a tour of terraces. Performers can perform again, bars have guests again, and guests have a safe event outside their house again.

Note: this initiative was set-up during the intellegent lockdown. As the restrictions diminished, the need for Art Routes decreased and we stopped the initiative.

BACKGROUND

COVID-19 affected the entertainment industry immensely. In March 2020, theatres and concert halls had to close their doors to the public, festivals had to cancel and artists were not allowed to perform for a public. People were prohibited to come together in large groups and unable to enjoy entertaining outdoors. During this project we aimed to set-up a start-up to support the arts and performance industry.

The process

During this course, we worked on a project to support the arts and performance industry during the Corona lockdown.

We noticed the need for entertainment in a safe environment. We applied Hyptotheis-driven Entrepreneurship with a high iterative process to develop Art Routes. During the process with pivoted several times, cooperated with multiple parties within the industry to realise a feasible concept. We had to pivot based on insights from the user and stakeholders, but the most critical factor was the government's changing restrictions continuously. The final version of Art Routes was a tour of terraces where you could enjoy artists' live performances. These quick changes taught me to involve main stakeholders continuously.
